Our beginning

Established on the Isle of Man in 1988 by Irish entrepreneur, Dan Tynan, Dandara has earned a reputation for delivering innovative, quality homes and commercial properties throughout the UK and its offshore islands.

Notable highlights in the company’s early years include Governor’s Hill, which at the time was the largest development of its kind in Europe providing over 1,000 affordable new homes, shops, leisure facilities and a school.

Following this success our Douglas Head apartment development gained the Isle of Man Employers Federation Buildings of Excellence Award for the sensitive incorporation of new-build elements with the original landmark Douglas Head Hotel and its historic navigation tower.

Channel Islands debut

In 1995, we expanded operations to the Channel Islands with our first scheme at Royal Bay which involved the redevelopment of a prominent hotel site.

It wasn’t long before we’d made our mark in Jersey, creating a niche for affordable homes that didn’t compromise on design, quality craftsmanship or specification. Our reputation was further enhanced by landmark Century Buildings scheme, which included 157 luxury apartments and 52,500sq.ft. office space – home to HSBC’s offshore headquarters.

Dandara in the UK

In 2000 we identified a gap in the growing North West city-centre residential market, and embarked on several high-profile schemes in Manchester, including the multi-award winning Lock Building. Today, we are the largest developer of mixed-use residential schemes in Manchester city-centre.
