Past
The business was first established in the Isle of Man in 1988 and began to take forward its commitment to build innovative and design-led schemes. Notable highlights in the early years included Governor’s Hill, the largest development in Europe of its time, with 1000 affordable new homes. dandara’s influence and presence was reinforced with landmark schemes such as Douglas Head, which comprised 42 apartments however, what helped gain dandara justified admiration and profile was our understanding and respect for preserving and complementing existing architecture with the sensitive incorporation of the original hotel and historic navigation tower into the scheme.
In total, the company has built over 3000 homes on the Isle of Man and in 1995, the company expanded its development operation to the Channel Islands.
Our debut development was a modest project called the Royal Bay, which was the redevelopment of a disused hotel site. dandara developed a niche for creating affordable homes without compromising on design, quality, craftsmanship or specification. Our mark and reputation on the Island were soon recognised with major landmark schemes such as Century Buildings, which comprised 157 luxury apartments and 52,500sq ft of office space to house HSBC’s headquarters for the Channel Islands. Our continued commitment to design and build quality has raised the stakes in terms of development on the Island and set the benchmark for high quality future schemes.
Our first foray into mainland UK came about in 2000 when we identified a gap in the growing city centre residential market in the North West.
