Located just 25 minutes north west of central London, the Hertforshire town of Hemel Hempstead is a vibrant commuter town, which has become an increasingly popular for those wishing to get away from central London.

Developed after World War II as one of Britain’s ‘new towns’, Hemel Hempstead’s geographical position between London and the Midlands gives it a central position on the UK’s motorway network.

A significant programme of regeneration and investment has raised Hemel Hempstead’s profile, making it one of the South East's most desirable places to live and work. The original part of the town dates back to the 15th century and is extremely popular with tourists. The High Street features both Victorian, Georgian and Tudor architecture and boasts a diverse range of antique shops, fine art and antiquarian book stores, numerous restaurants, bistros and coffee shops. 

The town’s 400,000 sq. ft. Marlowes Shopping Centre features more than 80 shops and cafes whilst the Riverside open air shopping centre, is home to a variety of retail outlets including music and fashion stores and a 110 bedroom hotel overlooking the town’s landscaped water gardens and rivers. 

The Hemel Hempstead Snow Centre also offers residents and visitors the thrills of real snow skiing indoors. The 8,000 m2 complex, features a 160m main slope, which starts 32m above the building’s ground floor level at a pitch of 15 degrees, plus a 100m nursery slope. The Centre also features a three-storey ‘warm side’ area with shops, bars, restaurants and equipment hire facilities.

Close proximity to London

Access to Hemel Hempstead is excellent; the train journey to London’s Euston station takes just 26 minutes from the town and both the M1 and M25 motorways are just a short short drive from Hemel Hempstead via the A414. Luton Airport, which serves around 12 million passengers each year is approximately 12 miles away and Heathrow Airport is around 28 miles from Hemel Hempstead.
