Dandara step in to help Jersey football

Andrew Barton and Luke Bechelet of Dandara close in on Jersey Football Combination president Tim Darwin at Springfield

Having come to the end of the agreed term with their previous sponsor, the JFC (Jersey Football Combination) launched a media appeal to try to attract a major sponsor to support senior league football.

Attracting sponsors is extremely difficult in the current economic climate; however Dandara Jersey has stepped into the breach at the eleventh hour to ensure the immediate financial future of local grass-roots football. This coincides perfectly with the official start of the 2009/2010 Season.

Grass-roots Jersey football benefits

Commenting on the sponsorship commitment, Dandara’s Managing Director Martin Clancy said, “We heard that the JFC were seeking a new major sponsor and immediately contacted them to ascertain whether we could assist. We continually support local community initiatives and this particular sponsorship really appealed to us as football has the benefit of bringing together a wide cross section of the community who participate and an even wider cross section who like to watch and support.
As a major employer a number of our own staff are involved in the football league and we see this commitment as a great support not only to them, but also to everybody else involved.

What pleased us most is that the sponsorship monies are divided amongst the clubs meaning that it is those at grass roots level who directly benefit.”

Speaking on behalf of the JFC, President Tim Darwin said
“We are obviously delighted that Dandara have come to the rescue of local grass-roots football, the position had been looking precarious before I was approached recently. Negotiations were brought to a conclusion at the end of last week and Dandara have signed up to an initial one year agreement for a sum of £20k, with an option to extend this next season”.
