Family homes to be built at the Jersey Dairy site in St Saviour

After 43 years situated in the Parish of St Saviour, Jersey Dairy have finally realised their dream of moving to purpose built premises in Trinity. This dream has been made possible by the purchase of the current site in Princes Tower Road by Dandara, whose aim is to redevelop the site for residential family homes.

3, 4 & 5 bedroom family homes

The current site within St Saviour’s residential community comprises imposing industrial buildings and the proposal is to replace these with a mixed development of seventy three 3, 4 & 5 bedroom family homes, ideally located for a number of the Island’s schools.

Award winning architect

Designed by award winning, renowned classical architect Robert Adam, famous for his work on Poundbury Village for the Duchy of Cornwall, the development will deliver a mixture of styles located around green space which will help to create a pedestrian friendly environment reflective of family living.

Prior to the commencement of the design work, Robert spent significant time in Jersey researching and understanding the best in housing detail and types the Island has to offer resulting in a truly unique housing development complimenting Jersey’s heritage. Working together with Dandara’s in-house design team, the attention to detail and quality finishes will be without doubt, amongst the most impressive Jersey has ever seen.

Georgian style properties

Facing the existing trees; set back from the road and separated by a newly created street inside the development, will be a row of classically proportioned town houses with integrated garages, whilst further in, a mixture of different style properties, many with unique features, will form traditional style crescents. Larger detached, Georgian style properties will be approached from a cobbled street looking onto the green and luscious valley below.

Commenting on the design, Robert Adam said. “This is an exciting and unique development for Jersey which we are delighted to be working on. Our key objectives are to create a special place that reflects the character of the Island whilst adding something extra and integrating the whole project into the village and its surrounding landscape. We trust this will be a wonderful place to live and visit and I am delighted to be working with Dandara”

Jersey Dairy’s Managing Director, Eamon Fenlon commented: “The move to Trinity is a crucial step in protecting the future of the Island’s Dairy Industry, by giving it a firm base for regeneration. The current dairy has served us well, but it is now reaching the point where it will become out of date and a barrier to future growth, particularly in the export market. The new dairy will provide a highly efficient and environmentally friendly production centre, at zero cost to the public or dairy farmers. By clearing the burden of debt from Jersey Dairy, an obstacle to future success is removed.
We have been working with Dandara for two years to reach the point of the planning application being submitted and we are fully supportive of the impressive scheme proposed for the St Saviour site. Without this deal there would certainly be no future for the Dairy of for our revered Jersey Cow”

Family homes in an ideal location

Martin Clancy, Dandara’s Managing Director stated. “Once again we are raising the bar to provide high-quality residential properties for the Island and more importantly, family homes in an ideal location. Our aim is to propose 73 units on this large site covering 5.5 acres.
Each and every home will enjoy green open space and ample parking for residents and visitors. The unique design worked up by Robert Adam will ensure that our existing large database of potential purchasers plus future interested parties will be able to choose from a range of styles which best suits their individual tastes and lifestyles.
Equally as important is the benefit this deal brings to Jersey Dairy and the future of one of the Island’s oldest industries. By working together we have satisfied the demands of future business as well as more family homes in close proximity to the Island’s schools, St Saviour and St Helier”.
