The Jersey Opera House in St Helier is going to be renovated for the first time in a decade.
The work is being sponsored by developers Dandara who have a number of apartments in the area around the theatre.
The Opera House Chairman Pierre Horsfall says it's a very special building but is in need of a facelift.
"The Jersey Opera House is a very special building. It was refurbished 10 years ago and now it is in great need of a facelift," said Mr Horsfall.
The redevelopment will see the façade of the building and the side elevation in Seaton Place redecorated.
