The What House Awards now in their 28th Year are the most prestigious and established in the housebuilding industry.
The newly constructed show house at Portelet Bay, recently revered in the Daily Mail national awards, was once again the subject of many accolades, winning the gold award for best interior layout and bronze for best house at the What House Awards on Friday 20th November, 2009.
The team of highly revered judges who visited the show house in October of this year, declared that the property which comprises 2,639 sq ft, excels in terms of layout. All three bedrooms offer a full en suite bathroom whilst the master bedroom also offers a private terrace and his and hers dressing rooms.

It is extremely rare for the judges to select a bungalow on the shortlist, however they deemed this latest Dandara offering to be a very impressive example and made specific comment on the benefit of good design making a difference to developing a really great product. Particular reference was made to the mono pitch roofs and tall ceilings which the judges stated makes this a most unusual property which separates it from the mundane and predictable solutions often offered for single level living.

Dandara’s Managing Director Martin Clancy who attended the awards said, “Following the recent Daily Mail awards there were some commentators who deemed the unfinished scheme not appropriate for an award because it was based on visuals, however It is a great tribute to the design and construction of this first unique property for it to be recognised in this way and it clearly demonstrates the efforts we are making to ensure that we deliver properties which promote and reflect the highest possible standards, both nationally and internationally. The judges said that ‘it reeks of quality’ and it doesn’t get any better than that”.
