Ready, set, paint: Dandara host art competition to celebrate launch of new show home

Housebuilder Dandara enlisted the creativity of a group of talented artists from Wokingham Art Society to create a painting to be displayed at its new show home at Oakwood Place in Berkshire.

Open to all members, Dandara received a total of 14 entries showcasing a diverse range of artistic expressions, including works created with soft pastels, digital drawings, and oil on canvas.

The winning entry, 'Girl with the Golden Earring,' was created by Alexandra Smith using acrylic paint. The vibrant painting portrays a woman adorned in vivid attire and striking gold jewellery. Alexandra's work will be displayed at Dandara’s new show home at Oakwood Place, accompanied by a dedicated plaque honouring her work. Additionally, Alexandra was awarded a prize of £120 for her winning entry.

Wokingham Art Society provides space for artists and art enthusiasts in the area to both appreciate and enhance their understanding of art, all while creating remarkable pieces. The organisation hosts weekend workshops, monthly demonstrations, and an annual exhibition where members showcase their designs, which are available for public purchase.

Madeline Hawes, Secretary at Wokingham Art Society, commented: “The art society provides a platform for members to not only share their talents, but also demonstrates the diverse and creative spirit of each artist, as reflected in the impressive array of entries received by Dandara.

“We were delighted when Dandara approached our art society for this competition, presenting a wonderful challenge for our members to create pieces that harmonise with the interiors of the new show home.”

Zoey Rampton, Head of Sales at Dandara Southern, said: “The entries we received from the competition were brilliant and so creative, truly underscoring the value of arts in our society. We are delighted to display the winning piece in our new show home and feel that it really ties everything together. Congratulations to Alexandra and all those who participated, we hope you enjoyed creating your paintings!”
