Independent housebuilder Dandara has recently acquired a five acre site off Hall Road in Copford, a village near Colchester, as it continues its expansion throughout Essex. This is the third site the 5-star rated housebuilder has acquired in Essex, which will deliver 50 homes, of which 15 will be affordable.
Dandara acquired the land in a deal in April 2023 with the intention to submit a planning application in the near future. Construction is expected to start in early 2024, and once complete, the development will include improved footpath provision and public open space.
John Baines, Land & Planning Director at Dandara Eastern, commented: “This is an incredibly exciting site in a brilliant location that marks the expansion of Dandara Eastern throughout Essex, we can’t wait to get started on construction later this year once planning permission has been granted.
“We are really looking forward to bringing much-needed quality homes to the area and working with the local residents to build a development that has placemaking and community at its heart.
The homes will be designed with sustainability in mind, including the latest energy efficient technologies ensuring the homes achieve an EPC rating of at least B. This is part of Dandara’s approach to reducing its carbon footprint, supported by the appointment of its Head of ESG and commitment to the Future Homes Hub – a partnership between developers throughout the industry working together to meet net zero targets.
Copford is located approximately 4.5 miles from the centre of Colchester, with excellent road links to the A12 and A120 allowing easy access to Marks Tey train station, which offers services to London Liverpool within an hour.
Perfect for families, there are a range of Ofsted rated Good primary and secondary schools in the area including Copford Church of England Primary School.
