Dandara Donates To Cardiff Foodbank During Busy Festive Period

Independent housebuilder Dandara is supporting the Cardiff community this Christmas with a £500 donation to Cardiff Foodbank, close to its Sant Silian development located in Old St Mellons.

According to Trussell, there has been a 40% increase in overall parcels provided over the winter period, compared with five years ago[1]. Food bank usage in Wales has been particularly acute, seeing a record high demand in the April 2024 to March 2025 period[2]. With the winter season bringing heightened demands, supporting local food banks during 2025 is more vital than ever.

The £500 donation from Dandara will go towards the food bank’s essential food supply packages, for local people in need this Christmas. This will provide 25 people with food packages and contains three days’ worth of essential meals for anyone in need.

Sara Taylor, Sales Director at Dandara Wales & West, commented: “It is of the utmost importance for us to support communities, and this is especially prevalent over the festive period. Amid the positivity and joy, the winter months can bring hardship for so many people and charities such as Cardiff Foodbank play a vital role in supporting people.”

Jodie Jay, Operations Manager at Cardiff Foodbank, adds: “We’ve been open since the beginning of 2010 and each year we witness a worrying increase in food bank usage. Our role is to ensure we’re here to support the Cardiff community, and donations from companies such as Dandara make all the difference. During these times, community spirit is vital, so we’d like to say a big thank you to Dandara for its donation.”
