With the UK construction industry continuing to face a shortage of skilled construction workers*, independent housebuilder Dandara has launched an education bursary scheme in Jersey to encourage those interested in the industry to earn money whilst learning about their chosen career path.
Dandara’s education bursary will cover all educational costs for workers, including courses and course materials, with the chance for a full time job once the scheme has ended.
The housebuilder has been developing property on the Island for over 25 years, employing nearly 400 people locally to create modern homes and unique commercial working environments. Dandara’s partnership with Andium Homes, Jersey’s largest affordable homes provider, has seen over 400 properties under construction so far with plans for many more in the next five years – offering the chance to work on a diverse range of projects.
Michael West, Project Manager at Dandara Jersey commented: “With so many projects coming up, it really could not be a better time to join the team at Dandara. We know how difficult it can be to start off in the industry, which is why we are proud to offer an education bursary which will allow people from all backgrounds to have a chance at building their career in construction.
“The great thing about the bursary is that you don’t need any previous experience, just a passion for construction and a can-do attitude! It truly is a fantastic learning opportunity and a great way to get started in the industry.”
Dandara is currently looking to fill several positions through its Education Bursary, from those who want to go into management positions, to bricklayers, plumbers, and carpenters. Plenty of trainee positions are also on offer, including quantity surveyors, site managers, buyers, site engineers and architectural technicians.
