West Wittering Parochial CofE Primary School has received a donation from independent housebuilder Dandara to help with the upkeep of its much-loved swimming pool, located just a short walk from the beach.
The contribution will support maintenance and running costs, enabling the school to continue offering weekly swimming lessons and water safety workshops throughout the summer term.
Christina Chamberlin, Headteacher at West Wittering Parochial CofE Primary School commented: “Given our seaside location, learning to swim is a key part of our lifestyle, and we’re fortunate enough to provide our students that opportunity. Water safety and confident swimming are the building blocks the children need to be able to enjoy the beautiful beaches on their doorstep, and thanks to this contribution from Dandara, we can continue building these skills with our students. We can’t wait to see them enjoy their swimming lessons all year round.”
Emma Thomson Head of Sales at Dandara Southern added: “West Wittering Primary School is doing an excellent job at readying their students to enjoy their seaside environment safely and confidently. Swimming and water safety are crucial, especially in a coastal village like West Wittering, and the school’s proactive approach deserves recognition. We’re pleased to play a smart part in aiding the curriculum with our contribution. As we continue to build homes in West Wittering, we hope this is the start of a long-term partnership with the students and teachers at this school.”
West Wittering Parochial CofE Primary School has been named as one of the first ‘Beach School’s’ in the West Sussex area, centring part of their syllabus around outside learning, located just a ten-minute walk from West Wittering beach, a blue flag awarded designation. Some of the activities they take part in as a Beach School include mindfulness walks, team building exercises and lessons on the coastal environment, including catching crabs, bird watching and coastal erosion.
Located a five-minute drive from the school, Dandara is currently building a new collection of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes, offering the best of modern seaside living. Aspiring buyers are now able to visit the newly opened show home and envision a life in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
