Independent housebuilder Dandara has partnered with Colchester Zoo by adopting the zoo’s Columbian Black Spider Monkeys. This adoption supports the Zoo as well as its charity, Colchester Zoological Society and the vital conservation projects they help here in the UK and worldwide.
The housebuilder, who is building new homes at its Oaklands development in Copford, has become a corporate sponsor to support the zoo’s mission of highlighting the importance of conservation.
Colchester Zoo is set across 60 acres of parkland and lakes and is home to over 155 species, including Komodo dragons, white rhinos, giraffes, and zebras.
Melissa Dench, Business Development Manager at Colchester Zoo, commented: “It is exciting to partner with a local business and receive support from Dandara for the conservation work we do. As part of our mission we work to raise awareness of the importance of conservation and look after numerous endangered species that need our help.
“Since 2004, thanks to the support of sponsors and visitors, Colchester Zoological Society has donated over £4.2 million to a broad spectrum of conservation projects worldwide. Projects over the years have included a wide range of species from orangutans to vultures, hornbills to Komodo dragons and elephants to moths. Together with kind visitors and sponsors like Dandara, we can do more and continue this vital work!”
Gemma Bannister, Sales Director at Dandara Eastern, commented: “It is brilliant to be able to support Colchester Zoo by adopting the Colombian Black Spider Monkeys, which are classed as a vulnerable species. The Zoo does such brilliant work in protecting and nurturing these vulnerable animals, as well as teaching future generations about the importance of conservation.”
“With our new homes at Oaklands nearby, we are excited for residents to enjoy a day out at the zoo, and visit these lovely, sociable animals we are proud to be supporting.”
