Dandara promotes road safety with school poster competition

In an effort to keep children safe on Dunblane roads, independent housebuilder Dandara, who is building new homes at its Wallace View development in the area, enlisted the help of Dunblane Primary School in a road safety poster competition.

Dandara teamed up with the school to encourage students to design posters relating to the theme of ‘Making it Across the Road Safely’. The competition aimed to serve as a reminder for pupils to cross the road with caution and be aware of their surroundings, particularly in busy areas.

The top three designs were acknowledged for their imagination, with the first, second and third place winners receiving arts and crafts gift vouchers. Additionally, Dandara donated hi-vis vests with their logo imprinted, ensuring students are safe during their walk to and from school.

Lorraine Slabbert, Head Teacher at Dunblane Primary School, said: “The wellbeing and safety of our pupils whilst off school premises is still of the upmost importance to us, especially on their journeys to and from school. This competition served as a great opportunity to reinforce ways to cross the road safely.

“Seeing the children get creative and use their imagination to think of ways they can express how to safely cross the road was lovely. I am sure that these posters will serve as a constant reminder for them to be aware when they are walking around and will encourage them to look out for others”.

Tony Williamson, Sales Director at Dandara East Scotland, added: “It was great to see the finished posters - the pupils at Dunblane Primary School are very creative!

“We hope that the competition reminded the children of the steps needed to take when crossing the road and will encourage them to stay aware and be safe. We look forward to seeing the students in their hi-vis vests and the posters displayed in the local area, encouraging other children to cross the road safely”.
