Following the final of Wimbledon, North Mundham Tennis Club, near Chichester, West Sussex celebrates a victory of its own thanks to equipment donated from local housebuilder Dandara.
The annual ‘Wimbledon effect’ drives a spike in tennis participation each year, with participation among children surging by 15% over the summer months[1]. To help support growing interest in the sport, Dandara, who is building homes nearby at its Hawthorn Grove development, has donated new rackets and balls for the club.
North Mundham Tennis Club is run by a team of volunteers whose aim is to encourage participation in tennis and make the sport accessible to all ages and abilities. The contribution will help the club continue to provide high-quality coaching, equipment and opportunities for members of the local community.
North Mundham Primary School pupils regularly use the club courts and will also benefit from the new equipment.
Zoey Rampton, Sales Director at Dandara Southern, commented: “North Mundham Tennis Club provides inspiring opportunities for people of all ages to get involved in the sport. We are proud to support the club with a donation towards new rackets and balls, helping to ensure that players can continue to develop their skills and love for tennis.
"It is a fantastic community facility located close to our Hawthorn Grove development. Supporting local organisations is an important part of our commitment to creating thriving communities, and we are pleased to be able to contribute to a club that will benefit both current residents and future homeowners."
Frances Neave, Chair of North Mundham Tennis Club, added: "We are incredibly grateful to Dandara for this donation, which has helped us purchase new equipment for players of all ages and abilities. Encouraging the next generation to enjoy tennis is central to our ethos, and support like this enables us to continue providing affordable access to the sport.
"We work hard to keep membership fees low and offer local schools free access to our courts, so contributions such as this make a real difference and help us deliver the best possible experience for everyone who plays here."
Phase 2 of the Hawthorn Grove development is now underway, with first homes expecting to be ready for occupation from January 2027. Designed to suit a range of lifestyles, the development will include bungalows, apartments, and a mix of terraced, semi-detached and detached homes, many featuring flexible layouts, open-plan living spaces and private gardens.
