Dandara Southern’s charity golf day has raised £9,000 for local homelessness charity Stonepillow. Staff, contractors and supporters teed off for the fourth year in a row, with the last three events taking place at Goodwood’s prestigious Downs Course.
Held on 16 September, the annual event saw Dandara employees and subcontractors from across the region come together to raise money through entry fees, on-course challenges and a high-spirited auction featuring everything from golf bags and champagne cases to a signed Bradley Wiggins Opal and four-ball rounds at top golf courses.
This year, funds went to Stonepillow, a Chichester-based charity supporting people experiencing and at risk of homelessness across West Sussex. With supported accommodation in North Mundham, just minutes from Dandara’s Hawthorn Grove development, the cause struck a particular chord with the team.
Ben Fewsdale, Managing Director for Dandara Southern, said: “We’re in the business of building homes, but that also means recognising the reality for people who don’t have one. That’s why supporting Stonepillow this year meant so much to all of us. It’s a charity doing vital work in our own backyard, offering shelter, safety and support for people who need it most. A huge thanks to everyone who took part and gave so generously – there was some questionable golf, but no shortage of heart.”
Sophia Rapley, Fundraising Manager at Stonepillow added: “To have a local housebuilder like Dandara championing our work means a great deal. Their donation will go directly towards helping vulnerable people access safe accommodation, rebuild their lives and move forward with dignity. It’s not just the money that matters, it’s the message that our community sees and supports those on the margins.”
With over £30,000 now raised through the event since it began four years ago, Dandara Southern plans to continue its annual golf day as a fixture on the fundraising calendar – driving impact one swing at a time.
