In the spirit of this year’s The Hundred National Cricket League, Dunmow Cricket Club has scored a two-year sponsorship with independent housebuilder Dandara, who is currently building homes at The Orchard development in Little Dunmow nearby.
Described to be a ‘real heartbeat of cricket’,[1] the sport in Essex has long been a positive force within the region, with a rich history of championing inspiring role models.[2] This love for the game and nurturing of talent begins within grassroot cricket clubs, most notably Dunmow Cricket Club.
Established in 1895, the club has long been a cornerstone of the local community. Its strong commitment to providing cricket for all ages, genders, and abilities has earned the club the prestigious ECB Clubmark accreditation.
The accredited club fields two competitive adult teams in the Two Counties League, as well as junior teams from Under 9s to Under 15s and a girls coaching programme. Dandara is now backing the club for the next two years, which will help fund training equipment, such as bats, protective gear and helmets for each of its teams.
Gemma Bannister, Sales Director at Dandara Eastern, commented: “Just as every great innings needs solid support at the crease, we are proud to play our part behind the scenes. Investment into grassroots clubs such as Dunmow Cricket Club is integral to supporting them thrive on and off the pitch. We are thrilled to be supporting such a renowned club with fantastic roots in the community and look forward to hearing about their success!”
Kath Gibson, at Dunmow Cricket Club, added: “Building key partnerships with Dandara to help strengthen grassroots cricket in the community will help our club grow for future generations. The sponsorship will provide essential assets for the teams to train and gives them even more chances to win in upcoming matches and games. A huge thank you to Dandara for their support.”
