Independent housebuilder Dandara is supporting the Colchester community this Christmas with a £500 donation to Colchester Foodbank to go towards its essential food supply packages, for local people in need this Christmas.
This year, Trussell's UK-wide Foodbank community distributed more than 3.1 million emergency food parcels to people facing hardship, a 94% increase over the past five years . With the winter season bringing heightened demands, supporting local foodbanks is more vital than ever.
To lend a helping hand to the community, Dandara, who is building nearby at Oaklands, has donated £500 towards Colchester Foodbank which will be used to support its provision of emergency food parcels and provide 25 people with food packages. These contain three days’ worth of essential meals for anyone in need.
Gemma Bannister, Sales Director at Dandara Eastern, comments: “The work that Colchester Foodbank does is truly inspiring, and I am glad that we are able to support them with a donation this Christmas. It is important that the work local foodbanks do throughout the year is acknowledged, especially during the winter months, which are the hardest. It is great to see how appreciated they are by the local community, and I am pleased that our donation has helped support those in need.”
Nikki, Co-Director at Colchester Foodbank, adds: “Christmas is our busiest time of year, with lots more locals requiring our services. The support from Dandara has really helped us in providing essentials to the vulnerable this winter – donations like this one have a huge impact on the amount of support we can offer to the community!”
