From Homes To Hearts: Dandara Support Llanelli Foodbank With Christmas Donation

Independent housebuilder Dandara is supporting the Llanelli community this Christmas with a £500 donation to Llanelli Foodbank to go towards its essential food supply packages, for local families struggling this Christmas.

Between 1 April to 30 September this year, food banks in the Trussell community in Wales distributed close to 83,000 emergency food parcels to people facing hardship, a 42% higher than the number in 2019 . With the winter season bringing heightened demands, supporting local foodbanks is more vital than ever.

To lend a helping hand to the community, Dandara, who is building nearby at Golwg Gwendraeth, has donated £500 towards Llanelli Foodbank which will be used to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables to offer alongside three day emergency food parcels.

Sara Taylor, Sales Director at Dandara Wales & West, commented: “As we enter the Christmas period, it is vital we support the foodbanks in the community we build in. No one should be hungry, especially during the colder months, and we are passionate about supporting the organisations who make a difference in our community. We are proud to support Llanelli Foodbank, who have worked so hard this winter to support people facing crisis in their community.”

Kate McShane, Llanelli Foodbank Manager, adds: “The Christmas season is our busiest time of the year, with referrals and demands for our services increasing. We rely on the generosity of donations to provide support for the local people in need, and we are thankful to Dandara for their Christmas donation. This donation will make a significant difference in the lives of many local families, ensuring they have access to essential food items this holiday season.”
