Le Grand Douet: From Former Hotel to Thriving New Neighbourhood

We’re delighted to announce that the redevelopment of the former Mayfair Hotel site in St Helier has reached completion. Now called Le Grand Douet, the scheme has delivered 201 affordable homes for Andium Homes, bringing much-needed housing to Jersey.

The transformation began with demolition in 2022. Just three years later, Islanders have the keys to their new homes. Each apartment comes with its own balcony or garden, set within landscaped courtyards and green corridors.

The development is about more than housing. Safer, greener streets now surround the site, new bus stops and trees make the area more welcoming, and a community room provides a place for events and social activities. A new cycle and pedestrian route run through the site, creating better links to the town centre and future neighbouring developments.

Sustainability has been a guiding principle throughout. Solar panels provide renewable energy, while more than 40 new trees, gardens and green corridors encourage biodiversity and wellbeing. There’s also a dedicated cycle hub with storage, repair and wash facilities to support sustainable travel.

In recognition of the project’s quality, the site achieved an “Excellent” rating under the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
