Local school turns a new leaf with donation of books from Dandara

The end of the school year will be one for the books for the students at Wymeswold C of E Primary School, thanks to a gift from Dandara. The housebuilder has made a £500 donation to the school, which is located near Dandara’s Wymeswold development The Meadows.

Along with funds from the Wymeswold C of E’s Parent School Association, Dandara’s donation will go toward the cost of new books from the book scheme ‘Big Cat for Little Wandle’, a sounds and phonics series used by the school’s Reception and Key Stage 1 classes.

Jan Scallon, Head Teacher at Wymeswold C of E, commented: “Thank you to Dandara for this donation that will go a long way toward purchasing some much-needed new books. Books are often reused from year to year, meaning they can quickly become torn up or damaged, but this generous gift will allow us to continue providing a quality education for our students. I know the students will enjoy learning with their new books, both in this term and beyond!”

Rachel Lindop, Head of Sales at Dandara Northern Home Counties, added: “We are always honoured to partner with local schools that are doing vital work in their communities, and Wymeswold Primary is one of those schools.

“As the school is just a few minutes down the road from our development The Meadows, we are excited to be neighbours and look forward to a continued partnership with Wymeswold Primary. We hope this donation serves as a ‘thank you’ to the parents, teachers and staff who tirelessly work to make the school the fun and vibrant place it is.”

The Meadows is a collection of two-bedroom bungalows and to three- to five-bedroom homes. The homes feature open-plan living spaces, private gardens and integrated appliances, and the development is surrounded by ample green spaces and play areas, perfect for warmer weather.

Just minutes from the heart of Wymeswold, residents of The Meadows can enjoy the charm of village life, with a plethora of pubs and shops available. For a day out, Bunny Old Wood and Rushcliffe Country Park are nearby with miles of walking paths, or the historic market town of Melton Mowbray is a 20-minute drive away.

The area also has access to several transport links like the A46, M1 and A606, connecting the town with larger regions like Nottingham and Leicester. For longer journeys, Loughborough Train Station and the East Midlands Airport are also nearby.
