Mowbray Village Enters Next Chapter As Dandara Moves Into Delivery

Dandara Southern has officially broken ground at Mowbray Village in Horsham, marking the start of a major new phase in one of West Sussex’s most significant mixed-use masterplans. The landmark development will deliver a high-quality collection of new homes within a thriving, well-connected community that already benefits from a new all-through school, extensive green space and a growing network of amenities.

Located close to Horsham town centre and within walking distance of Littlehaven Station, Mowbray Village forms part of a wider 2,750-home masterplan that also includes 500,000 sq ft of employment space, a supermarket and a sports campus. With London just 51 minutes away by train and Gatwick a short drive to the north-east, the area continues to attract residents seeking strong transport links, an established town centre and a desirable quality of life.

Emma Thomson, Head of Sales at Dandara Southern, said the start on site represents far more than the first spade in the ground. “Mowbray Village has all the ingredients of a great place to live – established infrastructure, green open spaces and excellent connectivity – and breaking ground today means we are now bringing that next chapter to life. Buyers are increasingly looking for well-designed homes in communities that offer convenience, character and long-term value. This development gives us the opportunity to deliver exactly that and set a new benchmark for what people can expect from a modern neighbourhood in Horsham.”

The first homes will be built in a well-connected part of the Mowbray Village masterplan, with easy access to existing walking routes, green spaces and community facilities, and close links to Horsham town centre. As the development takes shape, Dandara Southern will continue working closely with local partners to ensure it supports Horsham’s long-term growth and remains a positive addition to the town.

Alongside the private homes, the development also includes 28 affordable homes delivered through Dandara’s Partnerships division, in collaboration with housing association Saxon Weald. This marks the first time the businesses have worked together and underscores Dandara’s commitment to providing a range of tenures that meet the local need.

Russell Turner, Director for Partnerships at Dandara, said: “What’s exciting about Mowbray Village is that this is partnership working in the truest sense. This is our first scheme with Saxon Weald and from the outset the conversations have been practical, open and focused on doing the right thing for the area. Delivering 28 affordable homes here means people can live close to jobs, schools and transport and genuinely feel part of the wider neighbourhood. That’s exactly what our Partnerships division is here to do – work closely with housing associations and local partners and turn good intentions into homes on the ground. Being on site now makes it real, and it’s a collaboration we’re looking forward to building on.”

Breaking ground at Mowbray Village follows Dandara’s ongoing momentum across the Southern and South East, where the business is continuing to expand its pipeline and strengthen its foothold in high-demand locations. The development supports long-term regional growth ambitions and reinforces Dandara’s commitment to creating places that support people, the local economy and the surrounding environment for years to come.
