New Brunstane Site Update

Dandara Scotland is progressing enabling works at the New Brunstane site in accordance with planning permission granted by the City of Edinburgh Council.

Site Safety
Boundary fencing is in place to manage access during ongoing site operations and to ensure public safety given the presence of historic ground conditions and active works.
The site is privately owned and is not designated public open space. We therefore ask members of the public not to enter the site.

Current Activity
Our groundworks contractor is due to commence on the 14th of September, with substantial earthworks and infrastructure works following to facilitate the delivery of housing.

To prepare the site for future development, ground improvement works are required to ensure it is suitable for new homes and infrastructure. This will include the treatment of historic mining features through a process known as grouting, an established engineering technique used to strengthen and stabilise the ground before construction begins.

Residents may notice an increase in site activity during this period, including the presence of specialist plant, equipment and construction vehicles. The works will be carefully managed, and measures will be in place to minimise disruption wherever reasonably practicable.

For public safety, site fencing and access controls will remain in place throughout the works. Members of the public are asked to respect these measures and avoid entering the site.

Further updates will be provided as the programme progresses.

Ecological Surveys
A further ecological walkover will be undertaken on 14th September prior to the commencement of the earthworks and infrastructure works.

What Happens Next
Remediation works will continue, followed by infrastructure works required under the approved development. Detailed arrangements for housing delivery are being finalised in line with the planning consent.
