The Inglewood name is central to the Potton Town Councils street name suggestion for local housebuilder Dandara’s new development, Copsewood, located just off Mill Lane in Potton, Bedfordshire.

Dandara is currently in the process of naming the streets of its forthcoming new homes development and Potton Town Council has put forward a suggestion. The Town Council has suggested ‘Ingle and Windmill’ as an homage to James Ingle, a miller who lived in the area in 1808.

The earliest mention of the Potton windmill in any document at the Bedfordshire and Luton Archives and Records Service is in 1808 when Thomas Waters of Wrestlingworth sold it, together with two lots of ground, for £400 to James Ingle of Potton.

Simon Pendlebury, Sales and Marketing Director for Dandara, commented: “It’s been very interesting to find out about the history of Potton and a great honour to be including names like Inglewood at our Copsewood development.

Wherever possible we like to weave history into the new communities that we create, so that future generations will always be able to remember what has gone before them.”

Copsewood, which is launching off plan this Autumn, will offer a range of 62 two, three, four and five-bedroom homes. Prices are expected to start at £350,000 for a two-bedroom home.

Local residents are welcome to make further suggestions for naming within development and can email dandara@building-relations.co.uk
