Spades In Ground For New Homes In Newington

An official groundbreaking ceremony was held to mark the beginning of construction on our new residential neighbourhood in the historic village of Newington in Swale, Kent.

Our South East team has now started work on 135 two, three, four, and five-bedroom properties, of which 54 will be designated for much-needed affordable housing.

The first homes are likely to be ready for occupation in November on the development, which is just three miles from Sittingbourne. This picturesque village, with roots stretching back to the Roman era, is well located for commuters thanks to strong transport connections from its own mainline train station to London Victoria, and convenient access to the A2.

As part of our dedication to fostering long lasting communities, £2.91m will be invested in the surrounding area. This will include the addition of new sports facilities, additional equipment and capacity at adult education centres and contributing to the development of a new primary and secondary school in Northwest Sittingbourne, through its section S106 contributions.

David Garrett, our South East Managing Director, said: “It’s a powerful moment when the first spade breaks ground on a new development. We have spent several years designing this new neighbourhood, collaborating closely with the local community and council in Newington to create homes that not only meet the needs of local people, but also inspire a new generation of homebuyers to put down roots here.

“This is a significant milestone for our South East region and we are proud to be bringing more high-quality homes to the Kent area, offering the opportunity for buyers to become part of an established, vibrant, village community with great transport links to London and beyond. We are confident our contributions to the local area will further enhance this already desirable location for its future residents.

“With a wide mix of both private and affordable homes, we hope aspiring homeowners will be able to find their perfect property here.”

Newington is a quaint village situated in between Rainham and Sittingbourne in Kent, home to several independent pubs, restaurants and shops. Local attractions include the remains of a Roman villa at Boxted Farm, an annual summer fete and nearby Leeds Castle.
