Wymeswold Bowls Club will be playing in style this season, thanks to a donation of brand-new kits from local housebuilder Dandara, who is currently building new homes nearby at The Meadows on East Road.
Since its first match in 1937, the Bowls Club has grown into a thriving community organisation, encouraging people of all ages and skill levels to get involved. The club offers a mixture of league and friendly lawn bowls games, and they also host a number of social events throughout the year.
The league teams ‘bowled over’ the competition in 2023, with one men’s team advancing to Division 1 for the 2024 season, a women’s triples team qualifying for the National Finals and a mixed gender triples team winning the Corson Shield, but Dandara wanted to help the club look as good as they play. The builder provided funds for the club to purchase 40 new shirts in time for the new season, branded with Dandara’s logo on the back.
Tiena Ablett from Wymeswold Bowls Club said: “We are incredibly thankful to Dandara for their support and donation. Because of their generosity, we were able to purchase new kits for our members and boost the team’s spirit ahead of the 2024 season.
“We have needed new shirts for a while, but because we’re a locally funded club, we were unable to afford them until Dandara’s offer of sponsorship. Thanks to them, we’re looking forward to showing off our new shirts this season!”
Rachel Lindop, Head of Sales at Dandara Northern Home Counties, commented: “We are pleased to be able to sponsor Wymeswold Bowls Club. The club has become a local fixture, so we’re honoured to do our part to support such a strong community group just down the road from our development at The Meadows. Congratulations to them on a successful 2023 season, and best of luck in the new year!”
