Dandara lends support to Edinburgh Children's Hospital charity

Housebuilder Dandara East Scotland has donated £300 worth of prizes to Radio Lollipop’s Superheroes Ball, taking place in the Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel in Edinburgh on 7th of October.

The housebuilder has supplied restaurant vouchers for auction at the event hosted by the charity, which provides comfort and entertainment to patients at The Royal Hospital for Children and Young People in Edinburgh.

One in four children spend time in hospital before the age of 14 according to Radio Lollipop, which helps provide some normality during a hospital stay which can be a strange and scary time for little ones. Volunteers visit the wards to spend quality time with the children and their families and to broadcast weekly radio shows.

Graham Barr, volunteer at Radio Lollipop commented: “We are hugely grateful to Dandara East Scotland for donating vouchers for The Alchemist, Harvey Nichols and Chaophraya to the auction and we hope that the successful bidders enjoy using them. The charity is wholly dependent on the support of our volunteers who work so tirelessly to make life better for the children in hospital, and from the generosity of benefactors like Dandara.”

Lisa Archibald, Head of Sales at Dandara East Scotland, commented: “The Royal Hospital for Children and Young People does amazing work caring for sick children, not just in Edinburgh but all across Scotland, which is why we are proud to support Radio Lollipop, a crucial charity which does such a vital job lifting the spirits of children and their families during difficult times.”

Since its inception in 2007, The Radio Lollipop Ball has raised over £175,000 towards continuing its service to the children within the hospital. Radio Lollipop has been entertaining children and young people in hospital since 1979 and broadcasting in Edinburgh since 3 June 1989. To find out more visit www.radiolollipop.org.
