Dandara promotes safe driving through competition with local primary school

Local housebuilder Dandara recently hosted a road safety poster competition at Great Denham Primary School, located just up the road from Dandara’s Saxon Park development in Biddenham.

Dandara partnered with the Bedfordshire school to encourage pupils in the school’s Greater Depths Artists group to design street signs promoting safe driving. The competition was created with the purpose of reminding motorists in the area to slow down and drive carefully, ensuring children can walk to and from school safely.

Three designs were awarded for their creativity, with the three students receiving a £25, £15 and £10 arts and crafts gift card for first, second and third places respectively. First place was awarded to Year 4 pupil Edie, second place went to Musa in Year 3, and Year 5 student Max received third place.

Dandara also donated a selection of high-visibility vests featuring the housebuilder’s logo, helping make sure the pupils will be safe walking to the school.

Megan Glover, Head of Design and Technology and Safety Squad Leader at Great Denham Primary School, commented: “With road safety being such an important issue, the competition with Dandara provided the ideal opportunity to remind our students how to be safe when walking to and from school. The pupils had fun designing the signs, and we hope that they serve as a reminder to drivers to think about their actions behind the wheel.”

Rachel Lindop, Head of Sales at Dandara Northern Home Counties, added: “We hope these signs help to foster a safer community around the school, and provide parents peace of mind about their child walking or cycling to school. We’re looking forward to seeing the important signs installed around the area and to pupils using their new high-vis vests.”

The school is four minutes away from Dandara’s Saxon Park development in Biddenham, offering a range of three- to five-bedroom homes. The homes feature open-plan living areas and private gardens, located close to Biddenham village centre and the larger town of Bedford.
