Final homes now available at Dandara's Shawfair development

Housebuilder Dandara East Scotland has released more homes on the final phase of its development at Shawfair, six miles from Edinburgh.

The homes will be available for occupation in Spring next year and will feature two and three bedroom houses, ideal for first time buyers and young families.

Offering all the benefits of country living but just 15 minutes from the Capital, Shawfair has been popular with buyers, thanks to the quality and range of homes on offer, excellent transport links, local amenities and impressive network of walks and cycle paths.

Currently available for reservation is the two bedroom Harris housetype with prices starting from £235,995. Two three bedroom housetypes - the end-terraced Skye and Jura will be released later this year.

Lisa Archibald, Head of Sales at Dandara East Scotland, said: “We started construction work in 2020 in the early days of Shawfair, and our development has been a real local flagship thanks to its prominent location on Millerhill Road.

“All of the housebuilders involved, Shawfair LLP and Midlothian Council have made such incredible progress in regenerating the whole area in such a short space of time – it is an amazing achievement, and we are so proud to have played our part. We will be very sad to say goodbye, but it is great to be able to offer some smaller homes which would be ideal for first time buyers, young families and those making the move from flats in the city to homes with gardens.”

The final homes will take the number of Dandara properties completed at the development to 83. Of these 65 are private homes and 18 are affordable.

Perfect for buyers looking to move to a more energy-efficient, low-maintenance home, the end terraced Harris features an open plan lounge-dining-kitchen with French doors to the garden, a cloakroom, handy storage and utility space on the ground floor. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, a family bathroom and a storeroom.

Shawfair has been strategically planned so that everything is easily accessible; from new schools and leisure facilities to 160 acres of community woodland and landscaped green spaces. Green transport has been woven into the fabric of the development; from the eight-mile network of cycle paths to the easy 15-minute train journey into central Edinburgh from Shawfair station.

Work on a new secondary school is expected to start in 2024 and a state-of-the-art David Lloyd Leisure club is scheduled to open in 2023 which will include a badminton court, an indoor pool, large state-of-the-art gym and two tennis courts enclosed by giant domes.
