Kentish developer builds on it's success with second Bearstead land purchase

Tunbridge Wells-based property development company Dandara has acquired an interest in a second parcel of land in the village of Bearsted, just outside Maidstone in Kent and aim to promote the land through the planning system and deliver a high quality residential led scheme.

The option on the 13-acre greenfield site builds on the success of its current development in the village, The Sycamores, where 100 new three, four and five-bedroom homes are being built on a 10-acre site, situated off Roundwell.

Rupert Home, Development Director at Dandara, said: “There is substantial demand for housing in and around Maidstone, which has further increased in recent months as home working has been embraced. This, coupled with a distinct shortage in supply, has created a housing need in the area greater than ever.

Rupert continues: “Dandara specialise in promoting and developing quality housing in sensitive, attractive and desirable areas, such as Bearsted. As part of our planning and design process we extensively engage with the community and work with the local authority to deliver a unique scheme that enhances and complements its surroundings, delivers private housing at accessible price points, provides much needed affordable housing, and contributes to local amenity and infrastructure needs.”

Founded in 1988, Dandara mixes large scale, city-based developments across the UK, including Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham, with more boutique sites around the Home Counties. Dandara is currently working on a range of strategic sites across Kent and Sussex and marketing a selection of distinct developments in Tunbridge Wells, Laddingford and Tenterden. The company prides itself on offering well-designed, high-quality homes, with many “extras” included as standard – from German-designed kitchens with integrated appliances to landscaped gardens.

At The Sycamores, for example, every home has parking, a car port or a garage, and larger properties have luxurious fitted wardrobes and sun rooms. Photovoltaic panels and electric car charging ports are also available to selected plots, helped residents to go greener.

The company expects a great deal of interest, as Bearsted is a highly coveted location, where life centres around the quintessential village green and its beautiful listed buildings and superb selection of traditional pubs and restaurants. The site is less than a mile from the railway station and on a bus route to Maidstone which offers a wealth of shopping and leisure opportunities, with Ashford Designer Outlet and Bluewater Shopping Centre also within easy reach.

As well as having all the necessary amenities nearby, Bearsted is ideally located for lovers of the great outdoors. The new site is a half hour walk to the beautiful Mote Park, with Bearsted Woodland Trust, Milgate Park and Spot Lane nature area on the doorstep. The rolling landscape of the Kent Downs is easily accessible for walking and cycling.

Dandara is actively seeking more immediate and strategic land opportunities.
