Pumpkin Spice and everything rather nice!

Thinking of going all out for Halloween this year? Great idea.

If you love the autumn and the Halloween season you may be thinking of throwing a party or simply putting some themed décor into your home to get into the spirit.  Fancy dress for your home doesn’t have to be all ghosts and ghouls, we’ve got some tips for how throw a sophisticated Halloween party to enhance your interior!

Pick a Colour Scheme

While it may feel traditional to go with a palette of orange and black, why not switch things up with an elegant white theme throughout.  A dining table would look nothing short of fabulous with a collection of white pumpkins, place settings and napkins laid out.  Enhance this by incorporating some florals.  While floral arrangements may not be top of mind when it comes to Halloween, a cluster of dark red roses and a touch of greenery would do wonders to set off a dining table.

Talking of florals, if you’re going to be serving up some sweet treats, be sure to add some autumn florals to a rich and decadent chocolate cake, the darker the better when it comes to the chocolate!  Alternatively, if you prefer to bake some cookies to hand out to guests, here’s a link to some inspired recipes from Good Housekeeping including red velvet cookies, candied clementine’s, spider web cupcakes and a graveyard cake that just must be seen! https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/holidays/halloween-ideas/g244/halloween-desserts/?slide=27

Get crafty with Statement pumpkins

Carving pumpkins is a messy business, so if that doesn’t appeal why not level up your pumpkin display by covering a large one in a piece of luxe fabric and adding costume jewellery embellishments and jewels for an expensive look on a budget.  Here’s some beautiful inspiration https://ornatesplendor.blogspot.com/2013/10/elegant-fall-decor.html

Another way to create ambiance is to experiment with lighting. Instead of frightening decorations, create a more alluring atmosphere by limiting your light sources. Keep the spotlights turned off in favour of candles, the more the better and antique style holders offer maximum impact.

Upgrade your bar

A retro bar cart is very in vogue and a welcome addition to any party as it can move with the guests! Be sure to style it up with autumnal flowers and one of those luxe pumpkins.  We just love the luxe round bamboo gold drinks trolly from Oliver Bonas: https://www.oliverbonas.com/furniture/luxe-round-bamboo-drinks-trolley.  Adding metallic accents around your home will add a sophisticated glamour.

To accessorise further, ditch the skeletons and faux cobwebs in favour of old objects that may be gathering dusts in the attic or loft.  Old fashioned clocks, vases, candle sticks and masks can add an eerily antiquated atmosphere.

There are very few seasons that prioritise interior design like Halloween.  It’s a great time to go above and beyond and stand out from the crowd by ditching the black and orange palette, fake spider webs and ghostly figures. We hope these hints and tips will help you pull off a truly sophisticated soiree.
