Wymeswold forest school flourishes thanks to housebuilder's donation

Children at Wymeswold Preschool are set to have plenty of forest fun thanks to a generous donation by housebuilder Dandara, who has recently released new homes at its nearby The Meadows development in Wymeswold.

In the spirit of Dandara’s commitment to environmental education, the housebuilder has donated £2,000 to help expand the preschool’s forest school programme. Forest school involves taking learning outside the classroom and into nature and encourages the development of children’s emotional and physical skills.

Children at Wymeswold preschool will continue to benefit from weekly forest school activities held in the village scout grounds, such as shelter building, scavenger hunts, making rope ladders, and enjoying hot chocolate around the campfire.

Rachel Lindop, Head of Sales at Dandara Northern Home Counties, says: “Children at this age are naturally inquisitive about their surroundings, and forest school is a great way for them to learn about nature through first-hand experience.

“It’s brilliant to see the positive impact that outdoor learning has on the children, and it is something we are delighted to support. We hope the preschool pupils continue to enjoy their forest school lessons and manage to have lots of fun adventures in the summer months!”

Nichola Hather at Wymeswold Preschool, adds: “This donation will go a long way in ensuring we can keep the Forest school sessions running for all the children that we teach. Each session brings something new, no two are ever the same. It's one of those activities that the children talk about nonstop leading up to it, so it’s great to know we can expand the sessions further.”

Dandara is currently selling its new homes at The Meadows in Wymeswold, just 0.6 miles away from Wymeswold Preschool. With a collection of three, four and five-bedroom homes are available, prices start from £349,995 for a three-bedroom detached home with two parking spaces. Find out more
